If one were to think of men jacking off, he might be bound to conjure the same image, over and over: pants pulled down, penis hard for sex fantasies and porn, hand ready to stroke. It’s not exactly a lame one – researchers and medical professionals have proven masturbation to have many health and sexual benefits. But in the same way that variety is the spice of life, men jacking off needs a new image, an extra spice, a new thrill that makes the act of self-pleasure more exciting and more fun that men have known it to be.
Thank goodness, then, for the sex toys industry’s newest trend: sex toys for men. It’s true that women continue make up a large part of the market, but at the very least sex toy companies are beginning to focus as much on men as on their female counterparts. In an effort to cater to a huge market composed of men jacking off, new adult toys and products have mushroomed: these include stimulators, masturbators (or masturbating sleeves), flesh-like fake vaginas, anuses, and lips, penis extenders, cock rings, inflatable dolls, blow job machines, and even prostate massagers – in other words, everything a guy might need (apart from his own hands) to gratify himself and intensify the act of self-pleasure.
These toys comprise a lucrative market: industry observers say that the global sex toy industry is now worth $15 billion – with a growth rate that is poised to increase exponentially. While a number of conservative groups will surely cringe at this observation, the groups of men jacking off are only too happy to take part in the industry’s growth. A number of them, in fact, might choose sex toys over the real thing. They’re not only safer and simpler; they’re also changing the way people view – and practice – masturbation.
